Foster to Forever Program

Foster to Forever Puppy Program

The LAWS Foster to Forever Program (FTF) is an adoption path designed for puppies in our care who are not yet old enough or do not weigh enough to be spayed/neutered, and therefore are not eligible for adoption through our traditional process.

This program is available to Albany County residents only.

The fee for this process is $325. This fee covers all medical care, including vaccinations and spay/neuter surgery, which is scheduled when the puppy reaches 16 weeks of age.

Foster to Forever Program

The LAWS Foster to Forever Program (FTF) is a special adoption path designed for the youngest members of our program—puppies who are not yet old enough or do not weigh enough to be spayed or neutered, making them ineligible for our traditional adoption process. You can identify these puppies on our website by the “FTF” label after their names.

This program is available exclusively to Albany County residents interested in adopting a young puppy. Keeping the program local allows us to maintain necessary oversight until the puppy is ready for spay/neuter surgery, typically at 16 weeks of age or as recommended by our veterinarians.

What makes this program unique is our focus on finding foster families who are not only able to provide a loving temporary home but who also have the heartfelt intention of adopting the puppy they care for. This ensures a smooth, loving transition from foster care into a forever home.

As part of the FTF Program, fosters commit to bringing their puppy to booster shot appointments, spay/neuter procedure, and providing weekly updates to our dog program coordinators. These updates allow us to support you throughout the fostering and adoption journey.

The fee to foster and adopt an FTF puppy is $325. This fee covers all medical care, including vaccinations, microchip and the spay/neuter procedure.

If you’re a resident of Albany County and are interested in adopting through our Foster to Forever Program, please complete the Foster to Forever Application below.

Our available puppies and dogs currently reside in foster care and are not present at our Adoption Center. If you’re eager to meet one of our furry friends, simply kick off the process by filling out a dog/puppy application.
