Dogs & Puppies
There are three ways to adopt a dog or puppy from LAWS:
Important Adoption Information: Please Read Before Applying
At LAWS, our dog adoption decisions are based on the individual needs of each dog. This includes factors such as energy level, behavior, safety around children and other animals, and housing requirements. At this time, the majority of our dogs and puppies are high-energy working breeds and require a securely fenced yard. While we understand that great homes exist without fenced yards, we are not able to approve most dogs for homes without one. Submitting an application does not guarantee approval or adoption of a specific dog.
** PLEASE NOTE - ALL OF OUR DOGS AND PUPPIES ARE IN LOVING FOSTER HOMES. WE DO NOT HAVE DOGS AT OUR FACILITY **
Foster to Forever (FTF) Puppy Adoption Program
A special initiative exclusive to Albany County residents designed for the youngest of puppies who are not yet old enough to adopt. The goal is to find foster parents with a heartfelt intention of adopting the puppy they foster. Puppies with “FTF” after their names are eligible for this program.

ADOPTION
Our adoption program is geared toward older puppies (over 16 weeks of age) and adult dogs who are in need of a family to call their own.

FOSTER
Sometimes, a foster may need to move away or can no longer continue caring for a dog. In these cases, we search for a new foster or adopter for those dogs. You’ll see a “Please Foster Me!” label next to their names. These dogs are fully ready for adoption, they just need a temporary, loving home until they find their forever family.
Adoptable Dogs
*If the dog or puppy you are looking for is no longer visible on our website, they have either been adopted or are currently in the adoption process. Animals may also be temporarily removed from the website if they are on medical hold or participating in behavioral training.
