Puppy Rescue & Care Fund

Every year, the Laramie Animal Welfare Society rescues vulnerable, homeless, and sick puppies from the Wind River Reservation in Riverton, Wyoming, as well as owner-surrendered animals right here in Albany County. Many of these young dogs come to us malnourished, battling parasites or infections, or struggling to survive after being orphaned too soon.

Your donation to the Puppy Rescue & Care Fund provides lifesaving care for these fragile pups, both those currently in our foster program and those we have yet to meet. This fund allows us to respond quickly when a litter needs urgent help, even before they’re old enough to appear on our adoption page.

With your support, we can provide:

  • Emergency veterinary care for sick or injured puppies

  • Vaccines, formula, and nutritious food

  • Warm bedding, toys, and comfort during recovery

  • Preventive medications and spay/neuter before adoption

Every dollar helps us give these puppies a healthy start and the chance to grow up safe, loved, and ready for their forever homes.
And with more resources, we can say “yes” to more animals — expanding our reach to help additional puppies in need, whether from the reservation or our own community.

Toa’s Secret - X18

6/22/2026 - When Toa came into LAWS’ care, we knew he had already overcome incredible challenges, including an emergency leg amputation. What we didn’t know was that he had been hiding a big secret, 18 brothers, sisters, and cousins who also needed help.

Our team quickly stepped agreeing in to bring all of the puppies to safety. Sadly 4 of the puppies passed away before our transporter arrived. They are approximately 4½–6 weeks old and are receiving medical care, nutritious food, and plenty of love while they grow stronger.

Five of the puppies have been transferred to Animal Friends Alliance in Fort Collins, where they will continue their journey to finding loving homes. The remaining puppies are staying in the LAWS foster program and will be placed in loving forever homes once they are old enough.

Right now, our greatest need is local foster homes. These young puppies thrive in a home environment where they can receive daily care, socialization, and the confidence they need to become wonderful companions. If you live in Albany County and can open your home to one or two puppies for a few weeks, you can make a lifesaving difference.

If you’re unable to foster, you can still help by donating supplies or sponsoring their care. Every contribution helps provide food, veterinary care, medications, and other essentials while these puppies prepare for their forever families.

Panda’s Story

Panda’s story began on a cold December day when she and her six siblings arrived in our care — tiny, weak, and fighting to survive. Born to an emaciated mother named Seven, Panda soon faced another obstacle: a severe cleft palate that left her unable to nurse and struggling with pneumonia.

Thanks to our volunteers, lifesaving medical equipment, and the generosity of our supporters, Panda received round-the-clock tube feedings and later underwent surgery to repair her palate. Today, she’s a happy, healthy dog — living proof of what love and community can do.

Because of donors like you, puppies like Panda get the second chance they deserve.
